碳中和时代,很多传统的东西都需要重估,这其中包括地热能,由于成本,位置的限制,传统的地热能在全球能源版图中无足轻重。

Traditional geothermal already provides carbon-free baseload energy to a number of power grids. But because of cost and location constraints, it accounts for a very small percentage of global clean energy production.

但是新一代钻探,光纤传感,AI人工智能技术,有可能让地热能成为规模应用的能源。

That’s one reason this new approach is so exciting; by using advanced drilling, fiber-optic sensing, and analytics techniques, next-generation geothermal can unlock an entirely new class of resource.

And the US Department of Energy has found that with advancements in policy, technology, and procurement, geothermal energy could provide up to 120 GW of firm, flexible generation capacity in the US by 2050.

正在浏览美国地热公司Fervo的CEO的社交帖子,他有一句话我很认同,

Pretty much every study that looks seriously at deep decarbonization shows how important having a broad portfolio is, directly at odds with so many Twitter comments I see, which claim that there can only be One True Way to solve climate change. 


碳中和时代,需要更加多元化的解决方案,因为之前传统的石油化工是适应性非常广泛的技术,但是碳中和时代技术场景会更加碎片化,很难有一种普适的方案可以用于所有场景。
这种情况下,也许全球性的巨头会更少,但是可以多去找一些小而美的公司。

我认为碎片化的能源要利用起来,最重要的技术是特高压等智能网,离开这个管你如何低成本发电都是无效能源。
