Don't beat yourself up too much. WLT execs have made some mistakes over the cycle, but the bottom line is that the whole concept of a met coal "recovery" was a myth manufactured by Wall St. The Chinese communists knew that they would have to eventually stop making so much steel after a while, but the highly paid Wall St "analysts" neglected to factor this into their analyses. Our friends at Morgan Stanley, led by the disgraced "analyst" Evan Kurtz, spread this myth as they jammed these soon-to-be worthless bonds into the hands of gullible investors. And they had a lot of help from the media, particularly the shysters at CNBC's "Fast Money" (Najarians, Seymour, Grasso, et al) who relentlessly beat the drum all the way down. The cost to individual lives, as I'm sure you know, is not insignificant.
