According to Gita Gopinath, IMF’s chief economist, this year would be the worst global economy contraction since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The IMF expects advanced economies to contract by 6.1 percent and emerging economies to shrink by 1 percent this year, despite positive growth is still expected in China and India.
