He explained that PT SMGP is part of a national strategic project which is one of the renewable energy projects that contribute to meeting the government's target of 23 percent energy mixing by 2025.
"Currently PT SMGP has only operated 45 MW (Mega Watt), we are now completing the construction of unit 2, Insha Allah, in the middle of this year we will complete the construction work for unit 2 so that the installed capacity will increase from 45 MW to 90 MW. The reserves based on the information we get from the exploration and drilling process have a capacity of 240 MW, so we are mandated by the state to be able to develop the geothermal potential in Sorik Marapi up to 240 MW by the end of 2023, "he explained.
The SMGP agreement with PLN is required to increase the capacity of 45-50 MW every year, so if there is no disaster, this unit 2 should operate in March, first from 45 to 90 MW and at the end of 2021 there will be unit 3 of 50 MW.
"Of course when we say unit 3, it is not only a physical building, we also continue to drill. We operate 2 rigs in order to meet the steam supply for unit 3 supply of 50 MW, by the end of 2021 we hope we can supply 140 MW from units 1, 45 MW, units 2, 45 MW and units 3, 50 MW, " said Riza.
