Tekmira Pharma; Maxim thinks things could change fast for TKMR and their Ebola drug (16.30 +2.04)

Maxim notes that the two Americans at Emory University Hospital being treated for Ebola could be candidates (based on exceptional circumstances) for TKM-Ebola. Tekmira's Ebola program has shown 100% efficacy in animal models. While efforts are underway to finalize a dosing and clear a related FDA hold, they believe the exceptional circumstances may result in regulators expediting the TKM-Ebola project. For some background: On March 5th, TKMR received Fast Track designation from FDA for its anti-Ebola viral therapeutic. The FDA's Fast Track is a process designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of drugs to treat serious conditions and fill an unmet medical need. The purpose is to get important new drugs to the patient earlier.
