2023 was a year of great achievements for Vestas, and also for the region of Southern Europe, Africa & Middle East that I lead. Once more, I would like to express my gratitude and acknowledgement to all our colleagues in the Region and across Vestas for the dedication and passion shown every day.
In 2023, among many other things, we:
- Increased our Order Intake by 23%, across seven countries: Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, Türkiye, and South Africa.
- Signed over 550 MW in South Africa, including the groundbreaking first global order for the V163-4.5 MW.
- Kicked off our collaboration with Repsol in Spain, where we introduced the V162-6.2 MW wind turbine, the most powerful turbine installed in the country.
- Received a 125 MW order in Italy, marking the largest single wind project to be built by Vestas in Italy.
- Finalized construction of a 252 MW EPC project in the Gulf of Suez in Egypt
In 2023 we also saw fierce competition from other OEMs from the Far East, particularly intense in Middle East and North Africa. We like competition, we believe it makes us and the sector better, but a fair, level playing field is necessary. Today, more than ever, we need to put in value the benefits of a robust and mature wind industry based on:
